Notice Issued in Class Action Lawsuit Against West Virginia American Water Company for 2015 Dunbar Water Main Break

Charleston, W.Va. — The law firms of Calwell Luce diTrapano PLLC and Bonnett, Fairbourn, Friedman & Balint P.C. are pleased that notice has been mailed in the class action case styled, Jeffries, et al. v. West Virginia American Water Company, pending in Kanawha County Circuit Court. The lawsuit was filed in 2017 in response to a decrepit water main that exploded on June 23, 2015, in the city of Dunbar, resulting in water service disruptions for thousands of customers for an extended period of time.

“After years of litigation, including two writs to the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, Judge Webster’s recent Order allows class members to receive legal notice regarding their rights related to the class action,” said class counsel Dante’ diTrapano. “We are currently in the discovery phase of the scheduling order and working toward a September 2024 trial date.”

“The notice dispatched by the Notice Administrator, provides details concerning the class action and how class members may participate in the litigation,” diTrapano said.

The Court has appointed the law firms of Calwell Luce diTrapano PLLC and Bonnett, Fairbourn, Friedman & Balint P.C. as Class Counsel.
