Ames Factory Fire in Parkersburg, WV

The fire started in an industrial warehouse in the early morning hours of October 21, 2017
The Governor has declared a state of emergency, citing poor air quality and the need for further resources to address the fire and conduct further pollutant testing.
The West Virginia DEP has repeatedly fined the owner of the warehouse over the past several years for violations.
Public officials produced a list identifying materials potentially inside the burning warehouse complex:
- PVC
- Nylon
- Carbon black
- Titanium dioxide
- Fiberglass
- Formaldehyde
- Teflon
- Styrene
